Unless of course you have a boomslang harness.

RE: Uninstalling VAFC

So i finally got up the strength and will power to try and take out the VAFC... After a bit of a struggle I surrendered realizing I don't really know what I am doing and definitely don't want to f*#^ up my ECU. I think I am just going to go to slomo and have them take it out when I get the Emanage installed. I am guessing they culd do it in like 30 min. so it shouldnt cost to much in labor.

RE: Uninstalling VAFC

Ic so basically I am safe to remove it as long as I just do it reallllllllly carefully. Thanks again for helping me with the install, but it is definitely time to upgrade from the VAFC. I think today I am gonna go in there and just try to snip all the wires as best I can and try and get some of that heatshrink off. Wish me luck!

RE: Uninstalling VAFC

you can just unplug it and leave the wires but you can't just rip the wires out we soldered and heat shrank that stuff (u should remember chris weren't you there when we put it in) if you just yank u'll rip ur wiring harness. just snip the wires as close to the harness as you can or just figure out a time and i'll help you take it out.

RE: Uninstalling VAFC

ya it is hard wired in but it would make sense since it is a piggy back that if i just pulled everything and reset the ecu it should work. I will wait though just to make sure...

RE: Uninstalling VAFC

Dont do this, wait for Ryan to answer, im pretty sure that while some of the wiring is taping into existing wiring some use the VAFC as a pass through and just pulling the wires will leaves those connections, unconnected. I could be wrong, but i know he's removed one before and i know if your VAFC is stolen, as in some one just cuts the wires, the car will not run.

RE: Uninstalling VAFC

I don't think he has a wiring harness, so that would mean just being very careful with the wires and you'll be fine

RE: Uninstalling VAFC

Its completely plug and play. Just unplug it.. (gently) and reset the ECU by pulling the fuse to make sure. and it'll be a go.

RE: Uninstalling VAFC

no help?

Uninstalling VAFC

So I decided to upgrade to the Emanage from the VAFC and was wondering what I had to do to safely remove the VAFC. It doesnt have a wiring harness so it is just hardwired into my ECU. So since it is a piggy back I am guessing if I just carefully remove the wires from the ECU the car will go back to its normal settings. Is this correct or is there anything I need to know before I start ripping off wires?
